DRCEF relies on individual donations in order to operate it’s day-to-day operations, ensuring that a majority of the fund raised goes directly to the education programs.
Accountability and transparency are central to our values as a foundation. We are committed to keeping our running costs low, to maximise our impact supporting the education of the Congolese diaspora and DR Congo with the donations we receive. This is only possible thanks to the support and contributions of our many volunteers.
How much do we spend on admin/running costs?
For every pound DRCEF receives, we spend less than one pence on our administrative and running costs, which is significantly lower than other comparable organisations of our size. We are able to keep our running costs so low because of our grassroots approach that we implement.
We don’t have any big offices nor do we employ any staff on high wages. Our field staff are local people, mostly volunteering, who work remotely. Our grassroots approach is of great value for money and is one of the keys to how we can focus our finances on building great courses and providing excellent facilities for our students.
We are committed to maintaining low running costs while also increasing our visibility and outreach in the UK to support the expansion of our work.
Where do we get our income from?
The majority of funds for our work/projects comes from amazing regular people like you and I that believe in the vision of the DRCEF. We are also supported by a variety of organisations of different sizes who wish to donate to us.
Individual donations, fundraising efforts and corporate partners provide the most important source of funding that allow us to stay innovative and create in designing new projects and ensure we can be flexible within the regions where we work.
